A LA SALA | CD
Khruangbin | A LA SALA - CD
Texas trio Kruambing completes their first new album in four years. Reflecting on their gigantic size, the three of them returned to being a family and created their fourth album, "A La Sala," solely with the band, and its release. A La Sala" is about the band returning to the place where they record. The album was recorded in Steve Christensen's (engineer) warehouse (Terminal C) and has the feeling of a living room. After Corona and the collaboration album, the band felt a real need to come home, even if it was not possible to completely return to where they started emotionally. Also present was the theme of family. Things had become so huge with all the shows, promotions, etc., that it felt right to return to the three of us as a family and adopt an emotional recording process. A La Sala" is the name of a song from an earlier dub album, and Laura always shouts it when she gathers people in the living room. It's a symbol of togetherness. This will be the first time the band will work on a project together like this since 2019.And this is the first album without Will van Horn (pedal steel) and the first in Khruangbin's history without guests. Like a pendulum, sooner or later it had to swing to the other side. Musically/thematically, I tried to express the warmth of being in the Living Room through sound. Also, the song titles are all extremely specific, but also open to interpretation by the listener. Visually, the windows were the focal point of the Living Room. It is a space where one can indulge in fantasy, and it becomes a visual link throughout the album (jacket, etc.).
